On the Paranormal Abilities of Cats

 Just some quick thoughts, but has anyone tried to examine cats for psychic phenomena? I realize that actually getting the cat to cooperate might be a bigger challanege then proving anything, but there should be enough evidence to prove something anyway.

First item, the bed space issue. If a cat decides to sleep on your bed, no matter how small the cat, how large the person, or how large the bed, somehow the cat will take up the majority of the space. Whether this is use of telekinesis to push out the space around them or telepathy to figure out were they can be to prevent the person from spreading out.
Second item, opposition. If you provide a cat with two identical choices (say a scratching post and a sofa upholstered in the same material) the cat will always choose to sharpen its claws on the one you don't want. They will continue to do this even if you put catnip on the scratching post and repellent on the sofa. Somehow the cat must be able to tell which is which and is simply showing their person who's the boss. This also relates to a cat's ability to jump up on your lap precisely when you are about to stand up to go do something. To me these both suggest clear evidence of telepathy.
Telekinesis can be detected in at least two other ways (ignoring the jumping and landing on feet abilities because those might be natural). The first is one I am sure every cat owner has experienced. This is a cats ability to control its wieght. Simply put, there is no way that the same cat that can walk lightly across a structure that really shouldn't support its weight(stacks of books or magazines for instance) can still put as much pressure on a person as they do when jumping up into a lap.
The second demomstration of feline telekinesis is one that has just become apparent to me in the last day or two. I am in the process of painting various rooms in my house and have taped them out with painters tape. Now the tape I am using does not stick real well and does occasionaly fall down. However it seems that whenever I turn around and see a piece down, my cat is staring at it. If she were attacking it and pulling it down, I believe I would hear that and see it occasionally, which I have not. Additionally, it is not always the end she is near that comes down. Now theoretically this could just be feline attraction to something dangling down to play with, but this would require her to come running from anywhere in the house the moment a piece starts falling, and Occam's razor seems to make that the less probable option since she would have to hear it and come running before I notice it and without me noticing her moving into position.
All of this leads me to conclude that cats have various psionic abilities, and if anyone could convince them to make practical use of it both telekinesis and telepathy could be harnessed for use. (Admittedly convinving a cat to do work is probably not real practical either.)
